And A Little Child Shall Lead Them

A new, innovative, and thought-provoking drama with an underlying animal rights theme.

Welcome to our web site focused on the newly published (July 2009) stageplay entitled And A Little Child Shall Lead Them, written by Paul Mirkarimi. In the future we plan to expand this web site to contain more content, but for now the primary focus is to have people read the drama (see "ordering" page), and then comment (see "testimonials" page) about their thoughts/feelings on this new work.

Tagline: "Animal Rights Meets the Second Coming".

Young preacher John Gridwell had a vision of somone who would change the world in a big way. Twenty years later, well known evangelist John Gridwell encounters this person during a televised sermon. "Change the world in a big way", but is it for the better?

Two unique and entertaining questions which naturally arise from the plot  . . .

(i) If a Christ/Antichrist character was more sympathetic to the "beasts" than "people", would he /she be considered the Christ or the Antichrist?

(ii) If a Christ/Antichrist character was very uncomfortable around the cross, would that necessarily be indicative of the Antichrist?

Hearts and Minds . . .

There are many wonderful, enlightening books, documenting the widespread mistreatment of animals for food and other uses.

However, there are very few creative works on this topic. Can you identify an animal rights play? How many animal rights films can you recall, and how many of those relied on talking animals to advance the plot (not to say that we don't admire films like Babe, Gordy, and Fluke). This stageplay is very unique in that it has a strong underlying animal rights/welfare theme embedded in a unique and entertaining plot that does not rely on talking animals, but which takes a different approach to introduce a fantasy element to the playscript. The script also presents a novel twist to the story of the second coming.

We hope that you will find this drama both entertaining and enlightening. We also hope that it will find an audience in the theatrical community, as well as down the road in the film community.
