The author, Paul Mirkarimi, is a Materials Scientist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, CA., where he has been for the past 12 years. He is also a technical consultant to Veeco Instruments in support of Sematech and the Nanotechnology Center at UAlbany in New York. Dr. Mirkarimi received hi Ph.D in Materials Science and Engineering from Northwestern University and his B.S in Engineering Physics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has published over 75 scientific and engineering papers and has received numerous technical awards, including an R&D 100 award.
